Atkins Shakes/Southbeach diet?

Can atkins shakes be okay when starting south beach diet phase 1?

I don't think so because the South Beach diet's purpose is to teach you what foods to eat and how to eat without using shakes. My theory though when I did SBD and on phase 1 was that if it had under 3 grams of sugar, it was going in my mouth (I was hungry frequently)...so use your judgement in this case. Have you read the book that goes along with the diet? The book is an excellent source of information.

Going on a liquid diet?

Starting a liquid diet tomorrow. I want to be able to lose weight and gain muscle. I am a runner (beginner) I'm able to run .7 miles right now in about 9 minutes and 41 seconds. I bought slim fast, I had planned on buying Atkins diet shakes instead since they contain less sugar (approx 1g per shake) while slim fast has 22g of sugar. What are some good things to be drinking so I can keep my calories up? I'm trying to limit sugar.

Diets such as those are dangerous, you should not limit yourself like that to only liquids. If you are trying to be healthier you should try other methods starting by consuming a little bit of everything your body needs. Remember that how your body looks is not as important as being healthy.
