Does the atkins diet work?

I really want to lose weight! I know that it is practically Summer, but my sisters are going away for 2 weeks and i want them to be shocked by my appearence when they come back! I was diagnosed with a binge eating/buliemia disorder which i am recovering from and i am alot better! I feel ready to do a diet and one that works! I have done every diet in the book even laxatives! I havn't done the Atkins diet and i need to know WHAT IT IS and DOES IT WORK? Thanks xxx

Questions about the Atkins diet?

Ok so if I start this diet and stay on it for like a month or so then switch to lets say a regular low calorie low fat diet would that work.

Also how are net carbs different from regular carbs? I bought some atkins shakes and the front says 2 net carbs but the back says 5 carbs. Which carbs do I count?

I was on atkins. I did it for 2 months and lost about 20 lbs. Then it all came back as soon as I went back to my normal lifestyle which included healthy meals (not just meat though). And my metabolism for normal food was ruined as I could not eat carbs without gaining weight.

If it is possible for you then join weight watchers instead. It is more expensive than atkins, but your grocery bill will be smaller.
